Adopt a Green Space Initiative Launch

The Adopt a Green Space Initiative invites members, businesses, and community groups to formally adopt and maintain a defined green space — a park corner, roadside tree strip, school garden, or housing society lawn — committing to its upkeep, beautification, and environmental enrichment over a minimum period of one year. The launch event brings all registered adopters together to receive their adoption plaques, horticultural toolkits, and a briefing from landscape architects on best practices for urban green space maintenance.

The initiative is designed to create a network of invested community stewards who take genuine ownership of shared green spaces, countering the tragedy of the commons that leads to neglected and degraded public areas in rapidly growing cities. Progress updates, tips, and community encouragement are shared through a dedicated initiative group, and the best-maintained green space receives an annual award at the Community Green Champion ceremony.
